  • Best Outdoor Solar Spotlights for Landscape Lighting

Landscaping can make or break a property, not to mention it's a fun activity to design the outside area of your house. If you've got a centerpiece that deserves some attention, maybe a giant shrub shaped into a unicorn or a massive sculpture of your favorite celebrity, then it's time to think about investing in some solar spotlights. Or, if you are more the understated garden type, outdoor solar spotlights can still be an excellent way to illuminate the pathway during the night or make your garden look nice and welcoming with some warm white lights.

Now with separate adjustable light heads and panels, you can adjust both components independently to get the best sun exposure without running your light placement. There are two lighting modes: high, which can be used for 4-6 hours on a full charge; and low, which can be used for 8-12 hours on a full charge.

There are two brightness modes and you can choose between warm white, cool white and RGB colored. • None One user stated they work well even in continuous rain. • None Shorter stakes than other lights on this list.

Solar Light Mart has created the perfect solution for wanting a nicely lit garden without having to pay the extra electricity bills. This light used the latest high power CREE LED lights that claim they are 60-100 times brighter than any other premium solar spotlights on the market. The independent solar panel is easily hidden behind a tree or in a bush, if you want it out the way, and connects to a string of two bright spotlights.

Each cast aluminum spotlight is equipped with a special magnifying lens to magnify the light. this makes them much brighter than some other models. The light has the potential to run for 7-12 hours on a full charge, depending on how sunny it was that day.

The whole light is waterproof, including the connector to the solar panel, as well as heat and frost resistant. You can either mount your lights on to a wall or stake them in the ground without worrying about placing them in direct sunlight. As the solar panel is remote and larger than other models it can be placed wherever the sun hits most without having to disrupt your light placement.

    • None More expensive than other lights on this list. Begin by thinking about what you want the lights to do for your garden. Is it purely for aesthetic purposes?

Perhaps you have a barbeque coming up and need your garden to be nice and illuminated. Or are you looking to get solar spotlights to improve your security? An illuminated house is much safer and less appealing to burglars, making spotlights an excellent and affordable option security measure.

If this is the case, the run time will mean much more to you than people who are looking to make their garden look lovely. The price of the solar spotlights you are considering plays a big part in the decision of whether to get them or not. You may think that each light is a great value, but think to yourself how many are you going to need?

Chances are you are wanting more than one light to light up your house or walkway with, so consider looking for multipacks. Often people want ten or more lights around their property, so the price is a big factor to not overlook. This will all depend on your personal preference and whether you prefer cool-toned whites or warmer tones, or whether you want a multicolored disco ball shining over your garden.

Lumens also determine how bright a light is going to be - the higher the lumen, the brighter the lights will be. Some people like a more understated, soft glow, whereas others want their house seen from space. If you are one of these people, good luck and go for lights offering a higher number of lumens.

When choosing your light, knowing how long it's going to stay on for is essential. Imagine having a late-night garden party and suddenly all the lights go off. It would quickly dampen the mood of all of the guests, would not it?

This is why it's important to check the run times when choosing the right spotlight for you. With solar lights, the charge time is another thing to look at. In order to fully charge, it must receive its full charge time worth of sun.

Otherwise, it will be a complete guessing game as to when the lights are going to leave you in the dark. If the charge time for a spotlight is 8 hours and where you live only typically gets 6 hours worth of bright sunlight per day, these lights are most likely not going to get their full charge and reach their full potential in the nighttime. A good rule of thumb when choosing your new solar spotlights is to look for longer run times but shorter charge times.

That way you are less likely to be disappointed by your lights running out of charge during an otherwise nice memory. The material used for your solar spotlights is very important, but so is the IP ratings. The main test for the durability of solar spotlights is how weatherproof they are.

Do they hold up in extreme conditions such as snow and storms? The IP rating is the best way to get an idea of how weather-resistant the light is, as it applies to water and dust resistance. Each rating consists of two numbers, the first applying to dust and the second applying to water.

The higher the numbers, the higher the resistance. Lights made of metal and glass are generally more durable than models made of plastic, because the former materials tend to last longer, especially when considering staked spotlights. A plastic stake in heavy wind is much more likely to snap and cause disappointment than a metal one.

So, take into consideration the materials used when looking for your new spotlight. How many lumens should a solar light be? This is all dependent on how bright you want your garden lights to be.

Do you want your whole house lit up, or is it just to light the pathway to your door? You can get solar spotlights ranging from 50 to 1500 lumens, and sometimes even more. The higher number of lumens means the brighter the light will be, so decide on your personal preference and go from there.

Is there a difference between spotlight and floodlight? Yes, a spotlight is a focused beam of light, intended to highlight a feature in your garden or front yard. There will be shadows around your spotlights, adding a bit of a mystery to the area.

Floodlights are meant to flood the area with light, as much as possible, so you do not miss anything. What are the best places to add solar spotlights? The best use of solar spotlights is in places where electricity is hard to pull to, or spots you want to be highlighted in your landscape.

Here are just a few examples: • create focal points in your around outdoor statues, or flower planters • want to light up a path to the house? Yep! Use some solar lights.

    • do you have an interesting landscaping feature? Shine the spotlight on it. • do you like using flags for different occasions throughout the year?

Try solar spotlights for your garden flags Why are my solar spotlights not working Solar lights have a rechargeable solar battery that eventually needs to be changed. That's the first thing I would check if your spotlights stop working. You also need to make sure your solar spotlights are in the sun enough hours to fully charge.

Ankh In ancient Egypt the ankh symbolized life and the cosmic union of male and female sexuality. Ankh amulets have been found decorated with a triangular design at the top of their leg evocative of a woman's pubic triangle. Representing the divine creative fire manifesting as individualized forms of life, the ankh amulet offered its owner the coveted qualities of life, health and strength. Isis Knot & Djed Pillar The Isis knot (tiet) also called The Blood of Isis is believed to be a stylized rendering of female genitalia symbolizing the womb of the Goddess. Isis was the wife of Osiris, god of nature, death and resurrection whose backbone was the djed pillar. The four rungs of the djed pillar represented the four elements and dimensions of the created world. Embodying the divine masculine and the creative feminine principles, the tiet knot and the djed pillar together provided powerful protection and were two of the most popular amulets in ancient Egypt. Eye of Horus The Eye of Horus was the hieroglyph wedjat, meaning healthy. The sun and the moon were perceived as the right and the left eyes of the great falcon god Horus who created day and night by opening one eye and closing the other. The Eye of Horus was considered a powerful protective talisman that enabled its owners hearts to see through the darkness of doubts and fears into their luminous eternal nature. Lotus The blue lotus was the sacred flower represented by the hieroglyph seshen and its placement on wine jars has led Egyptologists to suspect an extract of the blue lotus was enjoyed as a drug. On the walls of tombs men and women were shown holding an open lotus flower to their noses. The blue lotus flower which opens at night served as a mystical symbol of light and life triumphing over darkness and death and as such was linked with sexuality and all sensual pleasures. Scarab The scarab (khefer) the hieroglyph for Becoming, was associated with Atum-Ra and Khepri, He Who Came into Being, the One who breathed life into the universe. Khepri was the creative force latent in the darkness of the Void symbolized by the morning sun and was depicted as a man with the head of a scarab. The scarab beetle rolls balls of mud and dung across the ground into underground tunnels for its larvae to feast on. The ancient Egyptians regarded this activity as a reflection of Atum rolling the solar disc before him and hatching time and space the way the baby beetles simply seemed to burst forth from the dark earth. Countless stone and faience scarabs were produced in ancient Egypt. As an amulet, the scarab provided potent protection from evil forces and magically stimulated good fortune by reminding the wearer of his hearts divine nature as the mysterious manifestation of God. Nefer Sign Nefer essentially meant beautiful but was also used to describe abstract feelings including the concepts of happiness, good fortune and youth. The nefer hieroglyph portrayed the trachea rising up from the heart and was a common amulet usually made of stone or faience. The Egyptians believed that to wear a nefer amulet or to drink water from a nefer shaped vase magically encouraged the highly desirable qualities of happiness, good fortune, pleasure and beauty to remain a part of their lives. Cowrie Shell The cowrie shell was worn by women throughout Egyptian history. The shape of the shell evoked the female vulva, making it a natural symbol of sexuality and fertility. Girdles of linked cowrie shells fashioned of burnished gold were worn by princesses. Clenched Fist The khefa sign was commonly used to express the act of holding onto something and to write the word fist. It also expressed the concept of grasping or seizing, the vital principle behind all actions both concrete and abstract. For example, the clenched hand symbolized the mental act of grasping a new concept or the effort required to get a grip on your feelings as we say today. The chief priestess of Amun-Ra was called The Gods Wife and The Gods Hand. The clenched hand symbolized the female sexual principle and the vagina that closes around the male organ.• Related Questionswhat is the best way to go solar? If you live at the North Pole, you are likely to find a wind turbine more functional than solar panels. There are a whole host of other questions you should be asking in terms of "better" as well. Whether one technology is better than the other for you or not, reality is that both coding/permits and cost are critical. Cost considerations should also include financing possibilities and insurability. Those questions aside, the next set of questions relate to your usage needs including volume/amount of energy and the timing of those needs with respect to season and time of day. There are a number of off-gridders that use a combination of solar, wind, and other energy in concert with each other. We can take a number of other lessons from off-gridders and almost off-gridders too. Many almost off-gridders are connected to the grid to collect either energy credits or money from the excess energy they produce when the wind is at full tilt or the sun is full height; and often during lesser conditions as well. Meanwhile, they remain connected to the grid for those energy production lean times, to enhance their electrical usage life style, and/or as an emergency back up. A number of the almost off-gridders do have a goal of eventually not needing to use electricity from the grid someday through energy usage reduction, energy usage efficiencies, and additional energy production. Many of those who do end up off-grid did so gradually; they did not install a set of solar panels then immediately disconnect the next day, or year. Rather, they figured out how to reduce their energy usage through both structural and life style changes, how to more efficiently use the energy they make through structural and life-style changes, and in most cases also use a number of different alternative energies. Primary among all three types of changes are adaptations that maximize what are called passive systems. Passive systems are things that utilize the naturally occurring lighting, heating, and cooling events provided by nature. They include insulative qualities that keep the warm air in and cool air out during the winter and visa versa. Many use water piped from below the frost/freeze line underground to both cool and heat; additionally some seasonally use external water bladders to passively, preheat water prior to energy assisted heating for bathing and dishes. Many off-gridders use some sort of wood, dried manure chip, or other burner for winter heat. Air and/or water ducting is frequently used to fully utilize the heat produced by burning fuel for other purposes including that produced while cooking. Landscaping including vegetation like trees and hedges are part of a passive system as are hard or firm scaped walls and other wind and sun blocks. Over hangs, porches, and covered entrances are part of a passive system as are window coverings and natural air flow through opened windows. Clothing and bedding selections also contribute to a passive system. For some, "green roofs" contribute to their passive systems. You get the idea. In addition to maximizing their assorted passive systems, some folks find efficiencies by doing things like converting to 12 or 24 volt systems either throughout the house or along specific circuits. This necessitates alternative appliances. Call it a passive system or an efficiency upgrade, when ever possible every use of energy tends to be tied to one or more additional purposes. For example, a lot of food is cooked upon the top of the burner during the winter. Many places have some sort of a shaded, and sometimes netted, outdoor kitchen away from the main house that is used for putting up food for the winter; not only is it cooler but, it doesn't heat up the house either. It is not uncommon for folks sleep outside; those southern mansions called their second storie, covered decks sleeping porches for a reason. Borrowing from the past, some use treadle sewing machines and arrange activities around the available sunlight streaming in a window too. Today's off-gridders have access to whole libraries worth of human history in which there were no fossil fuels. They often use a combination of energy technology from the Boy Scout solar oven made from metal to animal and human powered, wheel systems generating electicity or mechanically driving a cog or belt.
